La Sombra is a Spanish word for “shade” or “shadow”. For us it embodies the idea of slowing down, resisting hurry, working a garden, doing meaningful work, caring for a place and people, enjoying the gift of good food, and gathering for the joy of it. In a culture of hustle and hurry, we feel like these are the things too often neglected.
La Sombra currently sits on 2.5 acres outside of Oklahoma City where our family does a little farming, raises chickens, enjoys early mornings in the garden, and sunsets in the evening. In 2022 we decided to make our studio apartment available for others to enjoy. While we have future dreams of more land, lodging, and a larger gathering space, we decided to start with what we have! La Sombra is a place and brand built around a slower pace, intentional living, and meaningful gatherings. We hope to meet you soon, in the meantime… Take Care!

Our private studio apartment is a beautifully designed space for a peaceful retreat in a rural setting. The property includes organic vegetable and flower gardens, free range chickens and ducks, honey bees, fire pits, and a perfect view for sunsets.

Our place is conveniently located NE of Oklahoma City in a rural community within 15 minutes of the best restaurants and culture our city has to offer.
